Nawaz and Maryam’s ‘Positive Meeting’ with Saudi Crown Prince

RIYADH: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and senior vice president Maryam Nawaz met Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) here on Friday.

According to the report of JEE News, during the meeting, both sides discussed in detail the current problems facing Pakistan and their solutions.

According to sources, the meeting between the former prime minister and the crown prince was positive. The three-time prime minister and chief organizer of PMLN is currently in Saudi Arabia.

He also performed Umrah along with other members of his family. The Sharif family arrived in Saudi Arabia on April 11.

Nawaz Sharif is visiting Saudi Arabia after six years.

Sources further told JEE News that Nawaz Sharif had initially planned to stay in the kingdom till April 26, but Hussain Nawaz and his family requested him to extend his stay at their residence in Jeddah. Nawaz Sharif may also meet Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah.

Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said in a tweet on Friday that the leaders discussed further strengthening Pak-Saudi relations.

They also discussed the solutions to the problems faced by Pakistan. He said that Nawaz Sharif expressed good wishes for the Saudi leadership.

According to JEE News, MBS expressed his best wishes and referred to the strong relationship between the two brotherly countries. Muslim League (N) did not post any picture of the meeting and the Saudi side did not take any public notice of it.

The meeting, which is taking place at a time when Pakistan is going through severe economic and political difficulties, has not been publicized or released before.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif told the lower house of parliament that Saudi Arabia would provide another $2 billion to Pakistan to boost the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

In January, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met MBS at the winter camp in Alula, Saudi Arabia and reviewed bilateral relations.

According to JEE News, the two leaders discussed various issues of common concern and ways to enhance relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
