Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that a new leader of the opposition should be appointed in the National Assembly before the election of the new chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
While holding a press conference after the resignation of Aftab Sultan from the post of Chairman NAB, Fawad said that the opposition leader in the National Assembly should belong to PTI.
Earlier today, Aftab Sultan stepped down as head of the anti-graft body after allegedly refusing to “toe the line”. The PTI has welcomed his resignation saying that this decision is a big step towards the end of the present ‘fascist regime’.
Fawad said that we want the opposition leader to be appointed first and the NAB chairman should be appointed with his consultation.
The former information minister said that no one will listen to the advice of opposition leader Raja Riaz because “everyone knows that he is a lota (turncoat) and the only difference between him and Shahbaz Sharif is that he is the master of his slave.”
He further said that if the NAB chairman is appointed in consultation with him, it would be unacceptable as the Lahore High Court has already suspended the resignations of PTI legislators.
Talking about the cases against the party leaders, the PTI vice president said that they want to strengthen the judicial system.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League (N) has started a campaign against five judges of Panama, the Supreme Court should take notice.
He added that we have decided that whenever the court calls us. Fawad also said that the party wants Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to resign as well, adding that he has been offered the post of president.
Jail Bharo Tehreek
The former information minister said that the “Jail Bharu movement” will start from tomorrow (Wednesday). He said that this movement will be based on peaceful protest.
PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry said that ‘Jail Bharu movement is the next political project of PTI’, adding that around 200 leaders will surrender themselves.
Ejaz said that this movement is also a protest against inflation and arrests will be made in other cities after Lahore.
He said that the party will decide when to arrest whom and that includes Imran Khan.
