London: Army Chief General Asim Munir arrived in Britain on a very important visit at the invitation of the British Ministry of Defense to discuss strategic issues related to security.

Sources have told JEE News that General Munir will be on a five-day official visit to the UK starting Monday. Senior military commanders will also accompany him in this visit.

He arrived in the UK late on Saturday night.

In view of the growing problem of Taliban militancy and the situation in the South Asian region, this visit is being considered very important. This is General Asim Munir’s first visit to the UK after assuming the post of Pakistan’s powerful army chief at the end of November last year.

A security source said that both countries are giving great importance to this visit. The Army Chief will address the 5th Joint UK Pakistan Stability Conference at Wilton Park from February 5 to 8.

Wilton Park is an executive agency created by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office to promote open dialogue between governments.

Co-hosted by British Army Chief General Sir Patrick Sanders, the theme of the conference is “Regional Stability in South Asia: The Return of Geopolitics and Other Challenges”.

The conference will also focus on the impact of the Ukraine war on the European Union, the United Kingdom and its consideration for Pakistan.

The Army Chief will visit the British Army headquarters and address top military commanders, including the UK Army Chief. According to sources, General Munir will also address a security think tank at the end of his visit.
