ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Wednesday assured the soldiers that all those responsible for embarrassing the nation on May 9 will be brought to justice.
He was addressing officers and men on the occasion of a visit to Sialkot Garrison.
On arrival, he placed floral wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs.
He said that the martyrs have been promised a high position in the hereafter and they will maintain the highest position among the people.
The COAS said that the State of Pakistan and its armed forces will always respect the martyrs and their families and respect their great sacrifices.
He said that no one will be allowed to disrespect our martyrs and their memorials as they are a source of pride and pride for the higher authorities, law enforcement agencies, government officials and the people of Pakistan.
He emphasized that the recent planned and orchestrated tragic events will not be allowed to happen again at any cost.
The Army Chief appreciated the hard work, dedication, high morale and professionalism of the formations. During the interaction with the officers and soldiers, he stressed on the professionalism and preparedness of the army to deal with complex internal and external security challenges including propaganda war.
APP added: Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the May 9 insurgent attack on the state, its symbols and sensitive installations had its roots in the contents of Imran Niazi’s speeches last year. .
In a tweet, he said that Imran Khan has freely used religious imagery to describe his political movement as a battle between right and wrong.
“Imran has relentlessly defamed and attacked the armed forces and the current army chief and very cleverly prepared his sect with slogans of true freedom aimed at inciting them to the violence that we saw on May 9. You Answers,” Shahbaz tweeted with the hashtag #SayNoTo9thMay.
