Earlier on Thursday, without naming anyone, Elahi taunted PTI chief Imran Khan’s close aides. Pointing to the recent arrest of Fawad Chaudhry, he said that it would have been better if he had been arrested earlier.
Addressing an event, Elahi said: “Imran Khan’s close aides have struck a blow at the roots of PTI. One of the four or five people who are close to Khan have been arrested. Had he been arrested earlier, things would have been better.
The former Chief Minister of Punjab said that he had requested the PTI chief not to dissolve the Punjab Assembly but he did not listen to him. Now PTI was facing the consequences.
Elahi added that if he had worked for one more year, the politics of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) would have been buried. He added that those who were tested on May 25 did not need to be tested. Elahi said that the MPs who got more funds were putting pressure on the Tehreek-e-Insaf chief to dissolve the assembly. Elahi claimed that he did five years of work in a short span of five and a half months.
Elahi said that he became the chief minister by the grace of Allah and the trust of the PTI chief, adding that Imran Khan is the most popular leader of Pakistan.
The political veteran said he was aware of the ramifications of disbanding Khan, adding that the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would target him (PTI and PMLQ).
Elahi turned his guns towards caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and said, “Will you not return home?” Do good deeds so people remember you.”
Apart from this, in an audio conversation that went viral on social media, the former Punjab Chief Minister was heard using foul language against Fawad Chaudhry and advocating the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
Meanwhile, PML-N senior leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that what Pervaiz Elahi said about Fawad Chaudhry is sad. He said that PTI should regret Imran Khan’s decision to partner with Muslim League (Q).
