ISLAMABAD: An international airline passenger plane narrowly escaped a crash when its tail hit the runway during a failed landing attempt at Islamabad Airport, JEE News reported citing aviation officials.

The spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that the flight arrived at Islamabad International Airport from Doha at 8 pm on Sunday.

The pilot encountered some difficulty during landing so he decided to take off and attempted to land again after a spin, the official said adding that the pilot also informed the control tower.

The spokesperson added that during the process the tail of the aircraft hit the runway but the pilot took off.

He said that the CAA has started an inquiry after the pilot’s medical examination.

The airline has shifted the passengers of QTR 615 to a hotel while the pilot’s blood and urine samples have been obtained as per SOPs.

It should be noted that earlier, a foreign airline plane coming from Doha to Karachi narrowly escaped an accident at Karachi Airport, a bird hit the plane during landing.
More than 160 passengers were on board the foreign flight QR 610.

According to CAA sources, the private airline flight was scheduled to depart from Karachi to Islamabad on August 20, 2022 at 1 pm.

The Airbus A-320 took off from runway 7R at 1:15 p.m., while another Peshawar airline was about a kilometer away from the same runway where it was supposed to land.

According to aviation sources, one plane was taking off from the same runway while the other was about to land.

Air traffic control told the pilot from Peshawar to “go home”, but the pilot allegedly ignored the instruction, sources said.
