Doha: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday discussed mutually beneficial issues to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the economic and investment sectors.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated Qatar’s continuous support for development projects in Pakistan and highlighted several opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

PM Office Media Wing said in a press release that the Emir of Qatar appreciated the role of Pakistani manpower in the development of his country and especially the outstanding performance of Pakistani security officials during FIFA Football World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar.
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed investment, trade and export of more Pakistani skilled workers to Qatar.
Sheikh Tamim welcomed the Prime Minister and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to continue its full cooperation and support in Pakistan’s development and progress agenda.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Qatar accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation to visit Pakistan.
Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Qatar on a two-day official visit where he will participate in the fifth UN Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Conference.
The conference, to be held from March 5 to 9, 2023, will consider measures to accelerate sustainable development in LDCs, helping them move towards prosperity.
Apart from this, Qatar Investment Authority CEO Mansoor Ibrahim Al-Mahmood met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in which the progress on various investment proposals in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy was discussed.
During the meeting, both the dignitaries highlighted the investment opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Pakistan. It should be remembered that in August 2022, during the Prime Minister’s visit to Qatar, detailed discussions between the two sides began.
Qatar Investment Authority has expressed keen interest in investing in LNG power plants, airports and solar power parks in Pakistan.
