ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will go to Doha today to attend the 5th United Nations Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Conference at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar.
The conference, to be held from March 5 to 9, will consider measures to accelerate sustainable development in the least developed countries and help put them on the path to prosperity. At the conference, leaders will mobilize additional international aid initiatives and action in favor of LDCs and agree on a new partnership between LDCs and their development partners.
In Doha, the prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with the participating leaders and heads of delegations on the occasion of the conference.
Pakistan is playing a leadership role on UN platforms to amplify the collective voice of the Global South to promote sustainable development globally.
During 2022, as chair of the Group of 77 and China, Pakistan supported the efforts of LDCs and Qatar to adopt the Doha Program of Action for Least Developed Countries by consensus and through UN General Assembly ratification. actively supported.
