Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif will also attend.
Sources pointed out that this meeting was of significant importance in the context of Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif’s recent concluding visit to the Afghan capital, where DGISI Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum was also present.
Such a high-level visit from Islamabad came after a long hiatus. It is understood that TTP’s activities using Afghan soil, which are causing great harm to peace in Pakistan, came up for detailed discussion during the delegation’s stay in Kabul.
Sources recalled that the Taliban administration of Afghanistan had assured Pakistan immediately after assuming power in the Afghan capital that they would not allow any element to be used against Pakistan. The Pakistani delegation informed its Afghan negotiators about the presence of TTP hideouts in Afghanistan. Sources say that the Defense Minister will present a report on his visit to Kabul and inform about the discussions held during the talks in Kabul. Sources said that the situation of law and order in the country will also be discussed in the meeting. It is noteworthy that the government had decided to hold the All Parties Conference (APC) after the Peshawar Police Lines Mosque terror attack earlier this month. Incidentally, PTI chief Imran Khan refused to attend, rejecting the idea of convening the APC. APC was postponed and could not be rescheduled. Sources indicated that Imran did not want to be seen supporting any action that would curb the activities of the TTP and therefore chose to stay away from the APC idea.
