Police arrested 12 accused in Nankana Sahib lynching case.

Nankana Sahib: Police arrested 12 accused in connection with the lynching of an alleged rascal in Nankana Sahib on Sunday, a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident, JEE News reported on Monday.

The Punjab Police in a statement said that after starting the investigation into the horrific incident, the accused were identified through the videos.

On Saturday, an angry mob of hundreds tortured and killed a man after being snatched from Warburton police station, where he had been locked up on charges of blasphemy.

As the mob lynched the man — who had allegedly been put behind bars for blasphemy — Station House Officer (SHO) Warburton Feroze Bhatti and other policemen fled the scene for their lives. Done.

Locals claimed that the man – who had returned after spending two years in jail – practiced witchcraft by pasting his ex-wife’s picture on holy papers.

Prime Minister Shehbaz took notice of the incident on Saturday as videos circulating on social media purportedly showed a man being beaten to death by an angry mob for alleged blasphemy, saying it was “your responsibility”. Action will be taken against the police personnel who are lax in the matter.”

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in a statement that no one is allowed to take the law into their hands.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar, after taking notice, suspended two senior police officers for failing to stop a violent mob from torturing a man on charges of blasphemy.

Dr Usman Anwar has suspended Nankana Sahib Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Waraq and Warburton SHO Feroze Bhatti, the police said in a statement.

The IGP further directed that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Internal Accountability Branch Syed Muhammad Amin Bukhari and DIG of Special Branch Raja Faisal should reach the spot and submit an inquiry report.

The IGP asserted that strict departmental and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident.
