President Arif Alvi on Monday denied that the cipher was a ‘conspiracy’ (a key part of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s narrative) but insisted that an investigation should be launched to find out It can be seen whether what Imran Khan said is true or not.

In an exclusive interview to AAJTV, the President said that the cipher should be investigated as he too has doubts, adding that that is why he has sent it to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

He said that he does not accept that the PTI government was ousted by a US-backed conspiracy, but as per the demand of the former prime minister, the cipher should be investigated.

Seeks ‘extensive’ consultation.
In response to a question, Alvi said that the army should remain neutral.

On the issue of appointing a new chief, he said, “I think there should be a broad consultation on the name of the [new] army chief. It would be better if the summary of the meeting reaches me after the consultation.”

The President said he had heard reports that consultations on a new name were underway in London. He said that such reports have not been denied yet.

To a question whether Imran Khan should be included in the consultation process, Dr. Alvi replied that he wanted a broad consultation on the matter to reach a consensus.

To a question on PTI’s mass resignations from the National Assembly (NA), the President said that if he had been consulted, he would have given a different advice.
