Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for London on Wednesday to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III of Great Britain on May 6.
In a brief statement today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the two countries have been “great friends” and he will meet other world leaders during the visit.
Taking to the micro-blogging platform, the Prime Minister tweeted: “Leaving for the UK today to represent Pakistan at the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Pakistan-UK relations are rooted in a shared history and many Connected by bilateral ties that have grown stronger over the decades, the British monarch and royal family have been great friends of Pakistan.
“I will also use the opportunity to attend the Commonwealth Leaders Summit as well as engage bilaterally with other world leaders.”

Sources told JEE News that after this, the Prime Minister will hold consultations with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister was unable to go to Saudi Arabia last month to perform Umrah and meet Nawaz Sharif, who had arrived there to spend the last decade of Ramadan. It is understood that some important decisions will be finalized in the meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz – who will travel by his own special plane – may make a technical stopover in Istanbul on his way to London while he may visit Saudi Arabia before returning home.
Sources said that the schedule of the one-way stopover is yet to be decided.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister held extensive consultations with his cabinet colleagues. Sources claimed that the exercise was part of preparations for his visit to London.
