The meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Zardari discussed the current political scenario and the change in the leadership of the army after Imran Khan announced that his party and its allies had ended the long march to Islamabad.
Sources say that the prime minister and the former president are in touch on a daily basis. He is also in touch with various party leaders. Consultations were held on the political aspects of the constitutional and legal points brought forward to save the Punjab Assembly from dissolution.
Sources say that the focus of the discussion was on the constitutional and legal options regarding the ongoing session of the Punjab Assembly, due to which no-confidence motion and no-confidence motion could not be presented against the Chief Minister. Both considered various options to thwart Imran Khan’s strategy.
In the meeting, the rehabilitation of the flood victims and the relief process in view of the onset of winter were also reviewed. The two leaders agreed to speed up the process of rehabilitation of flood affected people. They also discussed issues related to economic improvement, relief to people and development process.
