Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that the process of appointment of Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) is going on.
“The process of appointing [officers] to the highest posts of the Pakistan Army has started today, God willing, the appointments will be made soon as per constitutional requirements,” the minister said in a tweet.
In a statement after the meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the senior minister said that the process of appointment of the Army Chief will be completed by November 25 and the summary will be sent in a day or two.

He said that there is no deadlock on the appointment of the Army Chief. After receiving the summary we will discuss the names – which will probably be the five or six most senior officers.
The Defense Minister said that the Muslim League (N) is consulting its allies regarding the appointment to this post, there is no pressure on the government regarding the appointment of the Army Chief.
He further said that the summary has not yet reached the Prime Minister’s Office.
