ISLAMABAD: In their second meeting with foreign diplomats stationed in Islamabad within a week, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders on Friday discussed the current political and economic situation in Pakistan.

According to the central media department of PTI, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, his son former MNA Zain Qureshi and party secretary general Asad Umar met the EU ambassadors at the residence of the Austrian ambassador.

In the meeting, the current economic and political situation of the country was discussed.

According to a brief statement issued by the media department, the PTI leadership apprised the ambassadors of their party’s stand on various issues.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar held a “breakfast meeting” with the diplomatic corps on Tuesday.

The meeting was organized by Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins and was attended by ambassadors from European and Muslim countries.

Qureshi said that they discussed the regional and overall political situation of the country.

PTI leaders briefed the ambassadors on their party’s demand for timely conduct of fair elections to prevent an atmosphere of political insecurity.

The former ruling party has changed its strategy and is now negotiating with foreign diplomats and US lawmakers and influential figures to garner international support for its cause.

The party has hired another lobbying firm in the US to support the party’s aims of “good relations with the US and with Pakistanis living in the US”.
