ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Whip of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Aamir Dogar called National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf and said that PTI delegation wants to meet him, NA Secretariat said on Tuesday. Confirmed.

The secretariat said in a statement that PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak and other legislators have asked to arrange a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly.

According to the statement, the speaker welcomed the meeting and said that dialogue is the only solution in a parliamentary democracy.

However, he added that confirmation of his resignation would still be subject to a one-on-one meeting.

Sources told JEE News that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders are in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to attend the 15th anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the meeting is expected after the return of Speaker National Assembly to Islamabad.

PTI MNAs will take the Speaker’s office.
However, PTI MNAs decided to visit the Speaker’s office to confirm their resignations despite his unavailability.

PTI senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry said the Speaker of the National Assembly “runs away” whenever party lawmakers want to confirm their resignations.

PTI MNAs under the leadership of Imran Khan will gather at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad tomorrow. The PTI chief is scheduled to address the legislators through video link.

The PTI had announced on December 22 to contact National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf and confirm his resignations. However, after the de-notification of Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi by the Governor of Punjab, he postponed this move.

Speaker will call National Assembly members of PTI one by one
On Thursday, when the PTI decided to personally confirm the resignations of its MPs, the NA Secretariat informed that the Speaker would call the party’s MNAs back to his chamber one by one.

The PTI members of the National Assembly will be called to confirm their resignations under paragraph (b) of sub-rule (2) of Rule 43 of the “Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in NA, 2007”.

According to an official statement, the NA Secretariat also responded to PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s letter, which he wrote on December 15.
