ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: The police crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders shows no sign of abating as senior PTI leaders Dr. Shireen Mazari and Dr. Yasmin Rashid were arrested by the police in Islamabad and He was arrested during raids in Lahore.

According to officials, the Islamabad police raided Shireen Mazari’s house in the early hours of Friday. His arrest comes after a series of arrests of several other PTI leaders including Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ali Muhammad Khan and Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.

All these leaders except Imran Khan were arrested under Section III of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

According to a PTI statement, former Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has also been arrested.

PTI leader Andalib Abbas said that the former minister is hiding to avoid arrest.

“Police detained her immediate family members two days ago but she was released after her husband’s health deteriorated. Her brother-in-law is still in police custody.

Several cases have been registered against Dr. Yasmin Rashid, including the attack on the Lahore Corps Commander’s residence.

Imran Khan released.
In a major legal victory for the PTI on Thursday, the Supreme Court on May 11 declared Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case “illegal”, and directed the authorities to “immediately arrest him”. “Release.

The Supreme Court allowed the PTI chief to spend the night with his family and close friends and sent the police to the guest house.

The court has also ordered Imran Khan to appear before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by tomorrow, the same court that had earlier declared his arrest legal.

It is important to note that the court has set a precedent that no person shall be arrested within the court premises.

‘We will arrest him again’
It was not immediately clear when he would be allowed to go home.

Undeterred by his ouster and assassination, Khan has led nationwide protest campaigns to pressure the government to hold early elections scheduled for later this year.

The corruption case is one of more than 100 cases filed against him in which, if convicted, he could be barred from holding public office.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that we will arrest him again.

Khan, accused in a land fraud case worth up to seven billion rupees ($24.70 million), denies any wrongdoing.

After Khan’s arrest, hundreds of protesters blocked highways, main entrances and exits in all major cities, attacked and torched state buildings, police and public vehicles, and attacked army installations.

About 2,000 people were arrested and at least eight people were killed, forcing the government to call in the army to help restore order. According to local media reports, Khan told the court that he was abused and beaten with a stick during his arrest.

The streets were mostly quiet on Thursday except for sporadic protests.
