LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) chief Nawaz Sharif has urged the Parliament to explain itself after the verdict of the recent Punjab elections and Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar. File a reference for misconduct. The claims have “virtually incapacitated” the legislature and rendered it “useless”.

Speaking to reporters after the Supreme Court verdict, Nawaz argued that the country’s survival depends on the strength of its democratic institutions, and criticized the ongoing “drama” of removing elected governments.

The former Prime Minister alleged that former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and General (retd) Faiz Hamid along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Supreme Court judges including Saqib Nisar, Azmat Saeed Sheikh, Justice Ahsan. They had conspired together. , Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Bandial – ousting them from power in 2017 for not taking salary from their son.

He said that due to the unfair decisions of the judiciary, Pakistan is suffering from crisis today.

Describing the verdict as a reflection of a “one-man show” in the judiciary, Nawaz argued that a single person should not be allowed to hold multiple jobs, such as Prime Minister, Defense Minister, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Above that. All, Parliament.

According to him, the purpose of the judgment was to benefit a lazy individual while disqualifying the state. He argued that allowing a single individual to multitask was detrimental to democracy and ultimately benefited only a few.

“This is sad,” Nawaz said, adding: “This is the result of more than 70 years of mismanagement and corruption in our political system. It is time we re-examine the way we run our country.” .

He alleged that the judgment of one man does not represent a fair judgment and is like a charge sheet against the bench.

“This is symptomatic of a larger problem plaguing our political system,” he said.

“For more than 70 years, we have witnessed mismanagement and corruption that have eroded people’s confidence in their government. Punjab has earlier disqualified MPAs and voted them out as chief ministers. Deprived of the right to give, was handed over to the PTI chief.

The PML-N supremo urged the nation to wake up as these people will destroy the country, asking the people to stand up against such people to stop their nefarious intentions.

He highlighted the “doctrine of necessity” that has been used several times in Pakistan’s history and argued that it applies only to elected governments, while dictators are immune from prosecution.

The former prime minister said that these double standards have weakened Pakistan’s democratic institutions.

He expressed confusion over the rejection of the demand to constitute a full court and said that he believed there might be ulterior motives behind the decision. He was of the view that the judgment against him was wrong and should have been reviewed by a constituted bench.

The supremo of Muslim League-N asked what was the obstacle in the formation of the full court bench?

According to him, the real victims of their removal were the people of Pakistan, as these people were pushing the country into chaos.

He praised the judges who were on the right path, saying they were doing “Jihad” for the betterment of the country.

Nawaz said that a man is recognized by the company he keeps. He alleged that the Chief Justice is protecting the corruption of Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, about whom audios were leaked.

Nawaz said that he does not understand how the governments and parliament will function in the country when Prime Ministers like him and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto are expelled.
