Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s attempt to create a narrative of a possible technocrat setup is aimed at fueling political instability and uncertainty.
The federal minister was reacting to a statement by PTI senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry, who had earlier said: “Bringing in a government of technocrats for two-and-a-half years is a joke.”
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Fawad stressed that “unelected people” cannot solve the country’s problems by just importing some technocrats from America.
Sanaullah rejected Fawad’s statement and said that the establishment neither Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) nor Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in connection with the technocratic setup. Nor contacted PTI.
He further said that Imran Khan invents new stories every other day, but no message was given regarding the technocratic setup.
He said that the organization has promised the nation that it will remain non-political. He further said that whatever happens from now on will be according to the constitution.
He said that the Muslim League (N)-led government is making every possible effort to bring the economy back on track. He asserted that the solution to the current problems is the Charter of Economy, not elections.
Possible technocratic setup under consideration: Imran
PTI chief Imran Khan Khan, who was removed from the prime ministership through a no-confidence vote in April this year, claimed that the technocrats’ proposal for a government was under consideration.
Speaking to senior journalists in Lahore, Imran asserted that he is not holding elections soon. He said that I do not see elections happening now. There are reports of bringing in a technocratic government.
For the past several months, Khan has been calling for snap polls. His stance intensified after his party’s “True Freedom” march ended last month and he announced the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
However, the process of resignations of PTI members of National and Provincial Assembly is still pending.
Fawad ruled out a possible technocratic setup.
In a press conference, Fawad noted that Pakistan’s politics is barren without Imran Khan.
He said that it is a joke to wrap this government house and form a technocratic government for two and a half years. “Experimenting and joking with Pakistan must stop now,” he said.
He said that if the government led by Shahbaz Sharif is not working, you will bring ‘imported technocrats’ from America. The solution to the country’s problems is holding elections.
The PTI leader said that the establishment made a mistake by sending home the most capable government and imposing clowns on the people.
Fawad said that Imran Khan is the only leader whose hands are not stained with the blood of Afghans. He said that Imran Khan is the only leader who commands respect in Afghanistan.
The PTI leader said that ‘deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan will affect Pakistan, given the fact that we cannot fight all the time’.
