ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday that references against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial and two other Supreme Court judges are under consideration.

Speaking to a private TV channel, he said that the government has not taken a final decision but it could happen as three judges had issued verdicts against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN).

“One of the judgments was related to Article 63 which everyone familiar with the Constitution considered rewriting the Constitution,” he added.

Sana said that it seems that the judges want to decide the case of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) elections themselves.

“They refused to obey the decision of the majority bench rejecting the request for constitution of a full court bench,” he added.

He claimed that PTI chief Imran Khan was responsible for the division in the judiciary and the PTI government’s reference against Justice Qazi Faiz Isa sowed the seeds of division.

He said that the state of division in the Judiciary under the leadership of PDM was not different from that of PTI.

In response to a question regarding the removal of PTI chief Imran Khan from politics, he said that elections are the only way to remove someone from politics in a democracy, all political parties agree on this.

“If he wants us done away with, why don’t we see him go?” he added.

Talking about the election schedule, Sana said that the assemblies will be dissolved after the stipulated time and the elections will be held within 90 days of the dissolution. He claimed that Imran Khan dissolved the assemblies of Punjab and KP in violation of the constitution.

On the statement “either Imran Khan will stay or us” he said that Imran Khan has the same policy as he believed that the opposition is the real problem of the country. “The PTI chief tried his best to eliminate us during his rule and false cases were registered against us,” he added.

The minister claimed that Imran Khan had sown the misconception circulating in the media that the government wanted to kill him. “We talk about politics but every time they do, they mention their assassination plans,” the minister added.
