ISLAMABAD: The ruling alliance has reaffirmed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s stand on the floor of the National Assembly on the second day of talks with the PTI and its chief Imran Khan, where the alliance had set a precondition for a apology.
The Prime Minister asked Imran to apologize unconditionally to the nation for his folly and deception before entering into any talks with the ruling coalition.
Sources in the ruling alliance told JEE News here on Friday that the top leaders of the ruling alliance will formulate a strategy to deal with the PTI, which last month had fully trained and armed men, in their meeting in Lahore today (Saturday). had exposed his face with The party resorted to using petrol bombs and other terror tactics against law enforcement officials.
The alliance is anxiously awaiting the outcome of the JIT report which has initially gathered some shocking information about the people holed up in Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence.
Sources said the ruling coalition would not support talks with the PTI or Imran as “they are not trustworthy people”.
It has been pointed out that Imran is contacting the leaders of the ruling alliance through back channel for talks. The alliance leadership will discuss Imran’s impatience for talks and his intentions.
In the meeting held at Shahbaz Sharif’s residence, legal matters pending in the Supreme Court will also be discussed. Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar will brief the meeting about the overall situation of the legal battle being fought in the Supreme Court on the elections of Punjab and KP Provincial Assemblies and the controversial self-notification.
Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan held an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad before his departure to Lahore. He has also left for Lahore and will be available for consultation during the meeting.
Sources said the government will consider the option of boycotting the proceedings of the three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, which has been reduced from nine to three after the resignation of the bench. The ruling coalition leaders will also consider a proposal to knock on the Supreme Judicial Council’s door on certain issues.
In the meeting, a political strategy will be prepared to deal with the upcoming agitation by PTI and Imran. Sources indicated that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif will also join the discussion from London. Sources further said that the political situation of the country will be discussed in this meeting.
