ISLAMABAD: Throwing light on the current political situation, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday said that the government should start a national level dialogue to get the country out of the political crisis, he added. Addressing a joint meeting of his party’s central and provincial general councils in Islamabad, Shujaat said that he had never seen such a terrible situation in his 50-year political journey. He added that politicians cannot afford to pour water on a burning fire.
He said that the nation has become worried and depressed due to riots and sit-ins. To end the ongoing political deadlock, the Muslim League (Q) chief said that the government should start a national dialogue. Be prepared to go to disgruntled national leaders and convince them because the solutions to problems lie with politicians. All forces should come together and think of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the provincial council elected Chaudhry Sarwar as the provincial president and Chaudhry Shafi Hussain as the general secretary. Intra-party election chairman Mustafa Malik decided to elect Sarwar and Hussain unopposed.
The meeting also decided to elect Sarwar as the central chief organizer of the party while the general council also elected 150 members and the central working committee.
According to the decision made in the meeting, Chaudhry Salik Hussain was elected as the central senior vice president while Mustafa Malik was elected as the central information secretary.
Sarwar said he was grateful to Shujaat and the entire party for reposing full faith in him, adding: “Together we will make Muslim League (Q) an alternative political force.”
Tariq Bashir Cheema said that the country is developing, the economy was damaged due to the wrong decisions of the previous government. He said that he did not want to become a minister in the previous government but he obeyed Shujaat’s order and fulfilled his responsibility.
He said that the common man is suffering from inflation, but all possible measures are being taken for relief.
