ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in the high-profile Shahzeb Khan murder case.

Other accused in the case were also acquitted.

20-year-old Shahzeb was shot dead between 24 and 25 December 2012 in a posh area of ​​Karachi.

The ATC had sentenced Jatoi and Siraj Talpur to death while Sajjad Ali Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Shahzeb in 2013.

However, the murder case took a dramatic turn on November 28, 2017 when the SHC ordered a retrial, quashing the death sentence awarded to the culprits by the ATC.

In its order, the SHC said that retaliation for personal enmity does not amount to an act of terrorism.

On 23 December 2017, Shahrukh Jatoi, son of an influential landlord, and other accused in the Shahzeb Khan murder case were released on bail after Shahzeb’s father filed an affidavit in support of the defendant’s bail plea.

Shahzeb Khan’s father Aurangzeb Khan had earlier asked the sessions court not only to release on bail the four persons who were previously guilty of his son’s murder, but also to drop the case against them completely. be done, arguing that his family had previously forgiven his son’s killers.

At the beginning of today’s hearing, the accused’s lawyer Latif Khosa told the three-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan that a compromise has been reached between the parties in the case.

Khosa told the bench that his clients had no plan to spread terror, adding that the murder case had been painted as an act of terrorism.
