ISLAMABAD: Amid rumors of bringing in a technocrat setup, Prime Minister Nazir Tarar on Friday ruled out the possibility, saying it could be “one’s wish” but not practically possible.

In an informal conversation with journalists, Tarar said that there is no scope for a technocratic government in the constitution.

The Law Minister said that it is clear in the constitution that if the assemblies are dissolved before their appointed time, elections will be held within 90 days. He said that if the assemblies are dissolved on time, polling will be held in 60 days.

The minister also said that the caretaker government will come after the dissolution of the assemblies and there is no other option.

“Technocratic government may be one’s wish but not practically possible. Steps can be taken for the country’s economy by staying within the constitution. One’s wishes and ideas cannot be restricted,” he added.

To a question about PTI leader Asad Qaiser’s claim that the government is proposing a technocratic government, Tarar replied: “As of now, there is no such thing to my knowledge, although I have seen it on TV.” Is.

PTI rejected the government’s offer of a long-term interim setup.
A day ago, former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser claimed that the government has offered PTI the formation of a long-term interim government. However, he said that no extra-constitutional demand would be entertained in any form.

Asad Qaiser said PTI is ready for talks if the government announces the date of elections.

He said that there is no provision in the constitution for a long-term interim government and such an extra-constitutional offer should be rejected in any case. He said that if the government gives the date of the election, then they are ready for negotiations.

‘Technocrat setup under consideration’
Rumors of a technocratic setup started when PTI chief Imran Khan, who was removed from the prime ministership in a no-confidence vote in April this year, claimed that the technocrats’ proposal for a government was under consideration. .

Speaking to senior journalists in Lahore on Wednesday, Imran asserted that he does not foresee elections being held soon. He said that I do not see elections happening now. There are reports of bringing in a technocrat government.

Sanaullah rejected the possibility of a technocrat government
Interestingly, this is the second time a cabinet member has rejected the idea of a technocratic government.

On the day PTI chief Imran Khan made this claim, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah rejected the proposal.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s attempt to create a narrative of a possible technocrat setup is aimed at fueling political instability and uncertainty.

Sanaullah rejected PTI’s statement and said that the establishment neither the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) nor the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Nor contacted PTI.

Imran Khan invents new stories every other day but no message is conveyed regarding the technocrat government.
