The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has called for final arguments on the admissibility of the petition filed for the disqualification of former Prime Minister Imran Khan for not disclosing his daughter’s name in the nomination papers.
The case was presented before a larger bench headed by Chief Justice Amir Farooq, which adjourned the hearing till March 1.
On the request of Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja, the hearing was adjourned to give time for further preparation.
The court discussed the admissibility of the disqualification case against the former prime minister and heard the arguments of the parties.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani asked the petitioner’s lawyer Salman Butt whether the defendants can be forced to submit their reply.
He asked the lawyer that if his client is not responding, he should submit the response himself.
The Chief Justice inquired as to what additional documents the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) wanted to produce in the court. ECP’s lawyer told the court that he will submit the notification of Imran Khan’s victory from seven constituencies.
The chief justice adjourned the hearing of the case till March 1, when both the parties will give their final arguments on the matter.
