US legislator has urged Pakistani political parties to follow decisions of Supreme Court.

The American lawmaker discussed the Supreme Court’s order to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday.

He reportedly urged the PTI chief to obey the rule of law and the Supreme Court’s verdict.

“For democracy to function, parties must follow the rule of law and Supreme Court decisions,” Sherman wrote on Twitter.

It was a victory for the PTI after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the party in the election delay case, which has been demanding fresh elections in the country for almost a year.

Meanwhile, the coalition government is on a war footing with the Supreme Court after a three-judge bench unanimously declared the Election Commission’s order delaying the Punjab polls unconstitutional.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said during the meeting of the coalition parties that the constitution and law of the country are being mocked and the fate of the nation is being decided by strange decisions.

The meeting discussed various options to effectively respond to the verdict, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz took a strong stance and said that the government should go beyond simply rejecting the verdict. Should.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the coalition parties also held a consultation meeting with the lawyers community.

PML-N leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari participated in the meeting through video link. Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz insisted that a reference be filed against the judges who were part of the three-member bench.

Other participants of the meeting were of the opinion that the Parliament should establish its supremacy and should not adopt apologetic attitude by taking a tough stance.
